except in the case of the Principal Civil Medical Officer, It is not surprising therefore that on the occurrence of vacancies in the medical staff of this Colony in 1906 and

1909, not even the most junior medical officers in the employ of the Governments of the Straits Settlements and the Malay

States desired transfer to Hongkong.
